The audiobook library of My Shield Press — the Church Fathers and Christian classics, retold in simple English and read aloud.
How to listen
Open the Library tab, tap any book, and tap a chapter. That is all — no account, no sign-up. The app remembers exactly where you stopped in every book, so the Home tab always opens with your place saved and a Continue Listening card.
Read along
While a chapter plays, the words on screen follow the voice — the sentence being read is highlighted and the page scrolls gently with it. Tap any sentence to jump the audio to it. The WORDS · FULL SCREEN button in the player makes the text large for reading on a stand or in the car.
Background music
The MUSIC button in the player plays a soft instrumental under the reading. You choose: off, piano, or a gentle pad. Your choice is remembered for next time.
Player tools
Skip back or forward 30 seconds, change the reading speed, or set a sleep timer (15–60 minutes, or to the end of the chapter). Playback continues with the screen locked, and lock-screen controls work as usual.
Your Shelf
Books you open gather on your shelf on the Home tab. Arrange lets you sort them or drag them into your own order. A gold NEW mark shows books added in the last week.
Requesting a book
The Requests tab lets you ask for a book to be added. Two honest rules: a book must be free for us to share (public domain) or one we can rewrite ourselves — we cannot take copyrighted books. An account is optional and exists only for requests; listening never needs one.
Deleting an account
In the app: Requests tab → sign in → Delete my account. Everything about the account is removed immediately and completely. See our privacy policy.
Troubleshooting
- A book is silent when I tap it. Its audio is still being prepared for streaming. Most books play today; a newly added book can take a little while to start playing everywhere. Try again later — nothing is wrong with your phone.
- Playback stops or stutters. The audio streams over the internet, so a weak connection can pause it. Move to a stronger signal and tap play again — your place is saved.
- The app forgot my place. It shouldn't — your place is saved every few seconds. Reopen the book from the Home tab's Continue Listening card.
- I can't sign in. If you just created an account, tap the confirmation link in your email first, then sign in.
